Returns and cancellations happen. With UPIPayments you can refund any successful payment, fully or partly, from the panel or the API.
Through the provider
For PhonePe, Paytm, Razorpay and Cashfree, the refund is sent through the provider’s refund API. It usually shows as pending first and becomes processed when the provider confirms it; the cron job checks for you. You receive a refund.processed webhook.
Direct UPI
A plain UPI ID has no refund API. You send the money back from your own UPI app and record the refund in the panel, so your reports stay correct.
Partial refunds
Refund just part of a payment, for example one item of an order. The payment becomes part refunded and you can refund the rest later. You can never refund more than was paid.
Fees on refunds
By default the transaction charges on a refunded payment are not returned, as with most gateways. Your platform administrator can choose to return them on full refunds.
