You do not need a developer team to start taking UPI on your website. Here is the shortest path with UPIPayments.
1. Create your merchant account
Sign up with your business name. You can test in staging straight away while your account is approved.
2. Connect a UPI account
Under UPI accounts, add your PhonePe Payment Gateway keys (the default), or Paytm, Razorpay or Cashfree. If you only have a UPI ID, choose Direct UPI.
3. Make a test payment
Switch to staging and use Collect a payment. The built-in simulator lets you try success and failure without moving money.
4. Add it to your site
No-code option: create a payment link and add it to a “Pay now” button. Developer option: call POST /api/v1/orders from your server and redirect the customer to the payment_url.
5. Go live
Once approved, create a live key, switch your server to it, and you are taking real payments.
