Most UPI fraud against merchants relies on someone trusting what they see rather than what the bank says.
Fake payment screenshots
Never ship because a customer sent a screenshot. Ship when your dashboard or webhook says success.
Reused UTRs
A fraudster may send the UTR of an old payment. UPIPayments allows each UTR to confirm only one payment.
Wrong amounts
Dynamic QR fixes the amount, and the provider’s reported amount must match the order.
“Overpayment” refund scams
If someone claims they paid too much and asks for money back, check the payment record first and refund through the panel only against a real payment.
Blocklist
Repeat offenders can be blocked by UPI ID, phone, email, IP or UTR.
